Stage 3: The Young Soul

Those undergoing the third stage of reincarnation are known as young souls. At this stage, life is about asserting oneself as an individual in the world at large. Hence, young souls tend to be ambitious, materialistic and highly driven.

Napoleon

We Can Be Heroes

Young souls are learning to be independent actors in the world, exercising their free will. Hence, there is a major emphasis on heroic self-assertion and progress, freeing oneself from limiting structures, finding one’s own strengths and talents, discovering “what I’m made of”.

The main lesson for souls in the third stage of their evolvement is to do with exploring and expressing individuality, discovering the power of independence in thought, will and action. There is a strong desire to make a personal impact on the outer world, so the focus is very much outwards and with a lot of energy.

At the same time, there is a strong tendency to compare oneself to others, evaluating self-worth in terms of “my” achievements relative to “their” achievements. This outward-bound, achievement-focused sense of self can lead to a determination to be a “winner” — and to be seen to win. The danger is that the appearance of success can become more important than anything else, including even happiness.

Young Soul Perceptions

Recall that for the baby soul (at stage 2), the world is perceived in terms of us versus them. For the young soul, however, the world consists of distinct individuals, each with a mind of their own, each with their own agenda. The young soul’s sense of self is as an individual who stands in contrast to other individuals — I am not you, you are not me. Life is often therefore perceived as a contest between competing individuals: me versus you and you and you … Or between competing agendas: my way versus your way.

And whereas baby souls automatically adopt the beliefs and values of their native tradition, young souls are busy developing their own perspective and agenda, finding their own talents and their own way of seeing things and doing things. By asserting their own perspective, they can change what the world believes to be true. By pushing their own agenda, they can determine what happens in the world. They are self-determined agents of change.

Because young souls’ opinions are of their own making — based on their own knowledge and reasoning — they will naturally feel that their own opinions are inherently right and correct. As a result, anyone with a different opinion is presumably wrong.

But because others’ opinions too, right or wrong, can determine what happens in the world, there is a constant sense of competition, and hence a feeling that those who disagree ought to be put right, or put down, or at least proven wrong.

So, for the young soul, “My way is the right way. I know it is because I can see it for myself. So let’s all do it my way.”

What young souls do not quite recognise as yet is that all perspectives are equally valid. They are identified with their own perspective, feeling confident that is the best way to see things.

Young Soul Lifestyle

Young souls are drawn to live in highly competitive environments in which they can push themselves, assert themselves, and prove themselves. Frantic, materialistic cities like Hong Kong and Los Angeles are young soul hotbeds.

Because young souls can often experience life as a contest between themselves and many other ambitious individuals, an ideal outcome would be to succeed very loudly and visibly so that everyone knows who “the winner” is. Hence, young souls are often attracted to the more obvious signs of success — fame, wealth, power, glory.

Other Young Soul Characteristics

At this level, love between individuals can be experienced as a reciprocal offering of goodwill: I make you feel good, you make me feel good, let’s keep making each other feel good.

It is also a feeling that can be extended to others who are not directly known to oneself, or to abstractions. For example, one can feel great patriotic love (reciprocal goodwill) for one’s country.

As artists and performers, young souls are attracted more to fame and fortune than to seeking meaningful insights into the human condition.

There is nothing wrong with any of this, by the way. It is a natural and necessary stage of soul evolution for all of us. The audacious ambition and competitiveness of young souls may be distasteful to both baby and mature souls (for different reasons), but it serves to bring out the best in us as powerful individuals — inventiveness, confidence, enterprise, heroism. Many of the world’s most remarkable achievements, from ancient empires to the Moon landings, have been young soul projects.

Some Famous Young Souls

Because they make it their business to succeed in life, there have been a great many prominent and well-known young souls in history.

One of the most famous figures of antiquity, Alexander the Great was a Young King soul (as well as a young king in life!) who created one of the ancient world’s largest empires.

The Young Priest soul Napoléon Bonaparte (below) led France to take on every other major European power. He was both a tyrant to some and a brilliant military-political leader to others.

Another prominent Young Priest in history was the Roman Emperor Constantine (below) who, according to at least one Michael channel (Holly Coleman), is now the Mature Priest known as Barack Obama.

As national leaders, young souls tend to perceive other nations as rivals in a contest. Many wars have been started by young soul opportunists, such as Saddam Hussein in the first Gulf War and George W. Bush in the second.

Other Young soul leaders in recent history include John F. Kennedy, Mao Tse Tung, Ronald Reagan, Margaret Thatcher, Bill Clinton and Silvio Berlusconi.

In the entertainment world there are many Young soul celebrities, including Elvis Presley, Dolly Parton, John Travolta, Beyonce and 50 Cent.

  1. Hmm…no comments here? Nobody wants to claim the young soul, eh? Everyone thinks they’re either Mature or Old Souls. Maybe our egos can’t handle being described as the above. I’m not sure if I ever read a comment with someone thinking they were a young soul. Maybe it’s the typical young soul description. Do they tend to have a negative slant? I mean, who wants to describe themselves as a selfish egotistical? Just an observation. And I think I’m a mature soul by the way…

    Reply
    • I have wondered about that too (if my description is too negatively slanted). My blog post about Colton Burpo, the US boy who had a near death experience, seems to attract them more.

    • I was wondering this too, at first. It’s easy to acknowledge that you might be spiritually wiser than most people, but it’s harder to admit you might have a long way to go, after all.

That being said, it’s important to acknowledge that really only Mature and Old Souls are searching for spiritual explanations. They’re probably the only ones looking up things like Soul Age, don’t you think? Since younger souls are still very busy and fascinated with the physical world. And even if a thousand people comment on this site, that still wouldn’t be the 11% of Old Souls, much less the combined percentage of Old and Mature Souls…

It just seems to me like Old and Mature souls would be the only ones interested in this stuff, long story short.

    • I guess to a lot of people who are spiritually inclined and believe in the possibility of reincarnation, old soul sounds more “advanced” while young soul sounds kind of naive and basic. (Guess which appeals more to the ego…) The flip side is, not many people — especially young souls! — are keen to be referred to as an old person. The ego wants to be forever “young” in physical appearance.

    • I think only mature souls are searching these things on internet because young souls are completly attached with physical world and have no intrest in spiritual things and old souls must be living at quiet place without phone because they know what matters. So if you are young and searching these types of thing you must be at some stage of mature soul

    • Well I’m not ashamed of calling myself a young soul most people I’ve known in life tend to be categorized as a infant or a baby soul. I am egotistical to the point where everything I see is a form of a contest me vs. 7 billion people .I aspire to be successful and change the worlds perspective.

    • It’s simply because young souls don’t read these kind of articles, they’re too busy being trapped in the office, making money and dismissing spirituality to ever come across articles like this. Hence why you have mainly people who claim to be mature souls commenting, because those are the ones who are actually starting to take interest in personal progression. And BTW I consider myself a mature soul too, only I think that this is also the life where I’ve made, and to a certain extent still am making, the transition 🙂

    • Young souls in an office? Rarely happens as they are entrepreneurs. All stages take an interest in spirituality, it is not just for old and mature-or those who think they are.

    • You seem pretty closed minded and kinda self obsorbed. I don’t think that is it at all. Young souls arent just all ego, they can be about exploration and learning about everything possible.

    • I think you definitely have a point. However I myself have come to realise that I am a young soul without doubt. Yet having read this I can understand why people might want to be in ‘denial’. I feel reading this that as a young soul I do not want to appear vacuous/without substance by others and perhaps this is what causes people to say they’re an old soul as they might have more substance than – for example – such a seemingly overly materialistic soul such as 50 cent.

    • Geez thanks for the help..how the hell I am I gonna identify as a young soul if all we do is go in the office and like big egos and yada yada..all these mature and old souls are meant to pass down there knowledge but they are acting superior and unhelpful to young souls .I was against working in the office and being competitive and stuff cause that is nothing to do with my interests and I am too idealistic and lazy anyways..so I dunno what my soul is because this is kinda biased? To be truthful I dunno If I am young soul or not? kinda confused..I also admire old souls[don’t feel the need to be like them like the so called egos] but this is making me all worked up…

    • It’s because most of the young souls are out there in the world doing something. They wouldn’t even know a page like this exists or that people even think about this stuff.

    • perhaps they are not seeking this information as their focus is on the material world, thus not being here to comment.

    • But I can have the same argument for you as a mature soul. If anything, it’s why it’s so awkward to mention that you’re a mature soul or old soul anywhere, because if you mention you are, you’re automatically arrogant and full of yourself. There are a lot of people who think of their soul age as younger than they are as much as people who think they’re older because of this.

Maybe get to know the person first before judging them as this, in comparison to when you’re strangers with us, and you don’t even know who the hell we are.

Besides, being a mature soul or an old soul isn’t saying you’re perfect either. This soul age thing isn’t supposed to be a competition in the first place. If others need to take more time to grow, that’s fine. Why do you have to play the game of who is superior and inferior when we never said we were competing at who is the most spiritual or the most righteous?

  2. Hi Barry, I am a young soul. Is it possible for young souls and souls at other levels to be in successful romantic relationships? I’m in love with a mature soul.

    Reply
    • Hi Kelly

I would say that if it is your shared intention to have a successful relationship then you already have the one essential ingredient of a successful relationship!

That said, the definition of ‘successful’ can vary significantly between individuals. Not only because of differences in soul age but also because of differences in life goal. A successful relationship for someone with the goal of Acceptance is not necessarily the same as for someone with the goal of Dominance, for example.

But even so, different traits – especially complementary opposites – can make for a stable long-term relationship.

It sounds like you know your different soul ages. Do you have them down to the actual levels as well? Generally speaking, if the difference between two people is more than one whole stage/cycle (i.e. more than 7 levels/steps) then effective communication is a problem, as they are on such different wavelengths. It would be pretty much impossible to have a relationship with someone where the difference is two whole stages – a Baby soul and a Mature soul, or a Young soul and an Old soul. There *are* such gaps in some parent-child relationships, but in terms of romantic relationships it’s pretty much a non-starter.

But if one is, say, 6th level Young while the other is 2nd level Mature, then the gap isn’t so great (half a cycle) and there is a lot of commonality. There is no sudden cut-off point between stages – an early-stage Mature soul will still be a lot like a late-stage Young soul, just with a new ‘twist’ of emerging inner concerns and issues. Again, as a rule if the difference is less than a full cycle, it shouldn’t present a problem.

I hope this helps (and makes sense).

  3. I’m a young soul. I always seek for winning. I always want to be the winner. Hell I even want to be famous and be successful in life.

  4. I identify myself with both the mature and young soul, and not wanting to “box” into a concept around where I am, I am still left with the curiosity… in this “box”… where would I be, late young or early mature?

    Reply
    • It could depend on how old you are physically – we know ourselves more clearly at, say, 40 than at 20. That said, if you can identify to some extent with both then it would make sense that you are in the early part of the Mature stage.

There is no sudden jump from Young to Mature (or at any other stage). Rather, we begin a new stage pretty much as we were, but opening up whole new kinds of experience, challenge and choice. So a “novice” Mature soul is outwardly like a Young soul but beginning to get to grips with some new dimension to life (the inner world of self and others). At some point as it further evolves as a mature soul, it will want to prioritise this new way of seeing things over the young soul way of doing things.

    • Hi Lori,

There are two basic methods. One is to just read the descriptions and see what resonates the most. Just bear in mind that it can be difficult to pinpoint your soul age if you are still if you are still young – in teens or twenties. That’s because we start each life afresh, equivalent to infant souls for the first few years, but gradually manifest more and more of our true nature over 3-4 decades. It is easier once you are past 40, as by then you have climbed the “ladder of consciousness” as far as your own level.

The other way is to get a personal reading from a Michael channel. I have listed a bunch of them on my page about the Michael Teachings. (https://personalityspirituality.net/articles/the-michael-teachings/)

  5. Umm ok…This is pretty amazing. I watched a video about a young boy who remembered his past life and I have been doing research on this subject for about 4-5 hours now. I read all of the stages in reincarnation and I have many questions.

The thing is I felt like I have been through stage 2 and 3 and going on to 4. Let me explain this….I was raised by a very ambitious father who was all about being as rich as possible and as powerful as possible. He’s definitely a young soul.

When I was young, I lived by very strict rules. I made sure I followed them closely. I assume I was a baby soul.

Then after being told my father how important money and power are, I started to become very ambitious. It was all about money and fame. I was highly driven. I studied very hard in school hoping to use my knowledge to become rich and powerful so my father would be proud. But I was also very selfish. For instance, if I knew something useful in class, I would hold that information to myself and not tell my friends so I could get the highest grade in class etc. I was very selfish and self-centered. It was all about me me me and no one else. I’m pretty sure I was a young soul and still might be.

Things changed when I realized after college that I have no friends. I have not developed any deep, real, sincere relationships with anyone other than my boyfriend. I’m very introverted and curious about meaning of life in general and I have always been into self-assessment. I realized at 24 that I need to change the way I think. Life isn’t all about money and fame but about being happy and sharing those happy moments with others. I felt it’s not too late to develop that part of my life that I have been missing throughout these past years. I decided that it’s time for me to change…

This comes to where I am now. I changed my focus in life from trying to be rich to focusing more on building meaningful relationships with others which is really stage 4 or mature soul. I’m definitely not an old soul and maybe barely mature soul. BUT I felt like when I get older I’m going to change and might even go on to “old soul” towards the end of my life.

My question is is this possible? that I can evolved through many different stages in one life? or am I really just a young soul finally learning to be a mature soul but it’s not until my next life that I’ll be born a mature soul?

Sometimes, I still find it hard to let go of the concept of not being rich and enjoying the luxurious things in life. I feel like it’s still in the back of my mind all the time because I love living a comfortable life. But at the same time, I feel a bit guilty for wanting it and I feel this isn’t the right way to live and I wouldn’t find the true happiness from money or fame. So…am I still a young soul or not? Can I truly change to a mature soul in this life?

Sorry if some of my sentences are confusing as English isn’t my native language.

    Reply
    • Hi Emiko

That, I would say, is a classic Mature Soul question! (And your English is excellent.)

I understand exactly what you mean, and I’m actually preparing an article right now to explain why this happens. But in a nutshell…

As you will have read here, soul age/stage represents a level of consciousness. We evolve through challenging life-experiences, and thus gradually deepen our awareness and understanding of the true nature of self, others and life.

But in each new lifetime we cannot outwardly manifest our current soul age straight from birth. For one thing, our newborn body is too needy, vulnerable, and incapable of doing anything other than feed and poo and watch the world go by. For another thing, we are deliberately born without any explicit memory of who we are and why we are here. This causes us to identity fully with the new life, rather than be “half in, half out”, and so the experiences and choices we face as individuals are completely real and the lessons we learn are completely valid.

As a result, we spend the first half of each new life adapting to —

      (1) the new body we find ourselves in,
      (2) the new cultural environment we find ourselves in, and
      (3) the personal opportunities and experiences that the world presents.

As newborn infants, as we go through the first process (1), we *act like* Infant Souls. We are very body-centric, and generally find the world fascinating but incomprehensible, apart from discovering patterns like “when I cry, I get fed.”

As young children, we go through (2) – we learn to walk and talk, and we develop a sense of self as a member of a family, a neighbourhood, a society. We are now *acting like* Baby Souls – eager to learn the rules and fit in.

As late adolescents / young adults, we go through (3). Now we act like Young Souls. We step out into the adult world with a desire to know ourselves as individuals who stand out (not just as children who fit in). We feel ambitious, egoistic, keen to make our mark on the world at large. We are now fully identified with the current life, and desire to make the most of it. (The fear of death is also a factor.)

So in each life, from birth to approximately age 35, we gradually manifest more and more of our true awareness. Our inner, deeper, soul awareness is there, like an intuitive sense of truth, but we are mostly captivated by the outer world and learning how to deal with it. In the process, we *seem* to revisit all the previous levels. For example, at age 20 a Mature Soul will typically act like a Young Soul (I certainly did), and might even think that he/she is a Young Soul based on how they have seen themselves acting. But if they were to search for their deepest inner truth, they could recognise their deeper awareness.

One who is in the Mature stage will be born with an intuitive sense of “right relationship” – but they won’t know how to *express* this in the new body and new environment until they are approaching mid-life. Before that, they are still finding their way, as strangers in a strange world, acting at first like Infant Souls, then Baby Souls, then Young Souls.

And if they happen to live in an environment that is dominated by Baby or Young Souls, it won’t be easy – they will need to have (or develop) trust and confidence in their own deeper awareness. A lot of personal growth groups provide this opportunity.

Older souls will generally “grow up” to their true level faster than younger souls.

Because we all go through this development process in each life, we can “feel” the earlier levels within us, even as old adults. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this. It’s like the rings inside a tree. For example, I’m a Mature Soul but I can “tune in” to the Young Soul within me – the desire to be rich, famous, powerful, heroic, etc. But as I get older (I’m now 51), this part of my character has less and less meaning for me. Mind you, I find that when I’m stressed – or just drunk – I can easily “regress” in my behaviour, though my awareness stays the same.

Well, that was supposed to be “in a nutshell”. Obviously this is something I am keen to write about! I hope it makes sense to you, but feel free to ask more.

      Cheers,

      Barry

    • I should add… There is no sudden jump from one stage to another. They blend into each other. For example, someone who is (say) 2nd-level Mature will still be about 70-80% Young Soul in their level of awareness. There is a gradual shift in values, and *how* we change our values is a matter of free choice.

There are many rich & famous Mature souls and even Old Souls, so there is no reason to think “If I’m a Mature Soul then I have to stop wanting to be successful.” Perhaps your thirst for success wasn’t fully quenched in your Young Soul days, so the desire may be genuine – but now you can approach the same desire with the deeper perceptions of a Mature Soul.

    • Wow thank you very much. It makes so much sense now. Very true.

I really can’t wait to read your article. I have been staying up all night reading about different soul types. I’m definitely a scholar soul. This site is extremely interesting to me!! Thank you! 🙂

  6. The last comment from Barry – and the question that triggered the response from Emiko, is very interesting to me, and it is unclear if you, Barry, are arriving still at the phrasing, or simply writing quickly… however, what constantly occurred to my thinking throughout all comments, was a sort of defensiveness, or even irritation – off-putting – related to the characterization of young souls as being superficial, ego-centric, driven to do shallow things, be famous even though it is this or that, etc.

What your final reply did that seemed to counter all of it, was the – as well very perceptive look at Emiko’s own life and growth, and the later arrival at an awareness of moving past various phases of soul growth within a single lifetime.

I suppose, it is the challenge of this system, entire, to create a very clear way for a human at any level of soul experience to perceive the value of really perceiving oneself in relation to the dramas of each of our lives – and to locate peace with this dramas.

This seems more relevant, than a necessary – or for obvious reasons – rejection of earlier growth phases, and as well either a retreat to ‘it’s this way, so whaddya want of me’, or to suddenly doubt oneself, etc.

The notion of experience seems very relevant. That experience requires the experiences. However, what seems even closer to the mark, related to the dialogue between Barry and Emiko, is that every single human actually has the experience in each lifetime, of re-experiencing every soul age, as phases of growth during development – prior to 35 years, is what you said (Barry).

As well, perceiving our species’ history as a series of phases of dominant soul ages on the planet, and arriving at the reality of where we are now collectively as a planet, in terms of the soul ages.

    These 2 dynamics are universal.

It would then seem that when any human, of any soul age, arrives at age 35 or so, and begins perhaps integrating with their soul for the clearest dynamics planned by each of our souls for this life experience, that it really doesnt matter what we do.

We each may locate our own relation to our species history. As well, we each may identify our own relation to our individual passage through dynamics of various soul ages, though we each as well arrive at the work of our soul – the experience planned – for each of our own life experiences.

Therefore, a baby soul has good vs bad dynamics, to explore . A young soul as me vs them dynamics to explore – experiences, these that can be embraced, as it is:
this is the experience I am having. this is that experience I am now having, for to have had this experience, of a life doing what the hell I’m doing now, and I want to explore it to the fullest. Who can say anything against any human wants the experience of being famous as hell, loved by all, known. If there within that drive, is recognition, I am doing this to know what it is like. It may actually be awesome, I may miss it later in this life, I may fail, I may succeed. Who gives a shit, though. At some moment, if it was a conscious recognition, one can also say, well, I chose it, and this is what I chose, and that’s what came of it.

It just simply becomes an arrival at peace with one’s own drive, having passed through the same individual phases of our species.

As well, everyone wants to be loved, known, respected, however, perhaps this is the distinction, each of us due to our experience, need this – our joy, recognition, happiness – to arrive at a dynamic that is comfortable. Meaning, who cares. An old soul may want all that, just quietly as well, with peace knowing it occurred. A mature soul may just want to be famous as hell, though as a mediator, or reconciler, or healer. A baby soul wants it, though in terms of defined contexts. An infant soul perhaps wants it, though wants to survive it.

Who knows. I do believe we are all moving from young soul dominant planet to mature soul, with some healing to do. Though it is healing from all of our movements. Therefore, this conversation seems the absolute most relevant, important, and how to locate a perspective that any soul level can arrive at, recognize their own drives, and find acceptance – while also being able to perceive what souls at different levels of experience also are motivated by.

Anyway, we’re all the same soul anyway, each of just focusing at different dynamics of being alive.

Emiko, very important words. Barry, helpful perspective…

  7. If we die young, say, 25, does it mean that life time was completely useless and wasted because we never got to the true soul age?

    Reply
    • Hi Demi

      Three basic points:
      1. Not all lives are purely about growth.
      2. Early deaths are usually preplanned.
      3. Not one minute of any life is ‘wasted’.

Some lives are lived for the benefit of others’ growth by deliberate agreement. For example, it might be very growth-ful for a particular soul to experience the loss of a child, and a fellow soul will sign up to play the life of the child who dies. Some lives are karmic – you die young because you once killed a youth.

When the specific goal of life is to evolve (see https://personalityspirituality.net/articles/the-michael-teachings/goal/), then it is apparently necessary to get through a full life. But if that can’t happen due to a ‘mid-flight’ change of direction or an early interruption, then the soul will simply catch up in the next life. It might take two or three attempts to get through life at a given step successfully, without folding under stress, for example.

So it is also possible that the life goal is growth, but most of the current lesson was completed in the previous life – there is just one more thing to complete and that could be over and done with by (say) 25, so the life may be planned to terminate after that point.

    • That makes sense. It also depends how do you understand evolution. If it is “learning”, then I definitely think that a short lifetime can have a lot of lessons, and is not wasted, as such.

    • Most likely young souls. Baby souls tend to gravitate to fixed systems like orthodox religion that explain everything and never change. Generally, they cling “religiously” to the culture they were born into. That said, a baby soul born and raised in communist China or Russia might grow up towing the official party line of atheism, without giving it much thought. A young soul, on the other hand, could go either way – if they figure that atheism is right, they will champion it; but same goes for any belief system. “If I believe it, then it’s got to be true.”

  8. This is sooooo cool! Thanks for this info! I am an old, king-priest soul who mentors many young and mature souls. It has been quite challenging at times to convince them of who they are. This site will be most helpful! It also helps to explain why I am “allergic” to some souls. I have had many lifetimes of being pulled on and bogged down by certain soul types. In this lifetime, I often feel as though “I don’t have time for this foolishness!” when it comes to certain people! I began to feel bad for feeling this way, so I asked my higher self, “Why do you do this?” “Why do you stay away from some who seek your help?” And boy, did I get an answer!!! I was shown that I have spent many lifetimes feeling “sorry” for people who just couldn’t get it together, or muster up the strength to love themselves. In this lifetime, I feel as though I have “graduated” to a certain extent, and I am drawn to help those individuals who are seeking a higher path of truth and wisdom. This information has given me much insight as to how and why to help those individuals who seek help from me. Now I understand why I have always been so “selective’ in my offering to help. There are souls who have chosen to incarnate strictly to manifest the pain that they believe they deserve. They can be extremely difficult to help. Now I get it! So I can stop accusing myself of being a “spiritual snob”!!!! I have paid my dues, apparently! LOL! This is so cool! Infinite Blessings!

  9. I believe that I’m either a young soul in a later stage or a mature soul in a very early stage. Here’s why…I’m kind of obsessed with making myself perfect physically. I very much want to be perceived as beautiful. I also really want a comfortable life full of things that I like like to look at and use. Not for other people though. For me. I crave balance and beauty in the things I do and have. But I also know that there is far more to life than this. I faced my fair share of depression and existential panic attacks. I’m very self aware and very intuitive of those around me. I’m able to see things from a bigger perspective than my family and I’m much more accepting of people and how they live. I’m very frustrated with my generation and where this world is headed. I wonder if my yearn for perfection is more attributed to wanted to feel accepted because I’ve always been a loner. I’m definitely not trying to get ahead. No motivation to do so anyways.

    • Hi Lalarie,

Your physical age will be a factor – I am a Mature soul, but in my twenties I would have assumed that I was a Young soul as I was so fixated on worldly success and personal vanity.

As we grow up through childhood, adolescence and young adulthood, we are still finding our feet. As young children, for example, we act like Baby souls – learning (and testing) the rules, trying to fit in, seeing things in terms of absolutes. Only around the age of 35 do we reach our peak, our current soul age, and start “acting our age”. Then we start working on our life’s true purpose or task.

So that’s one thing to bear in mind. You can feel like a Mature soul on the inside but act like a Baby or Young soul in everyday life until you reach mid-life and fully manifest more of your true self.

Another thing to bear in mind is that being a Mature soul doesn’t mean that one is suddenly all saintly and altruistic, as opposed to the selfish cravings of Young souls. There are many Mature souls who seek fame and fortune, power and popularity – but they do so with an increasing drive to give it all meaning and value beyond self-gratification.

I would suspect you have the goal of Acceptance, and at this point in your life it is manifesting as a desire to be liked, loved and admired.
The perfectionist element could be a number of things – attitude of Idealism (you can always perceive the potential for perfection), mode of Caution (you want to be sure everything you do has been thoroughly planned and checked), or a chief feature (negative pattern) of Greed – the dread of lacking something, in this case perhaps physical attractiveness.

      Food for thought?

      Cheers,

      Barry

    • Goodness. As a young man in twenties, my feelings resonate completely with every word you said. I also believe I am a young soul but am under the unfortunate circumstances of not having like-minded people in my life. If only we could meet…
And Barry thanks for clearing up emiko’s questions as I myself have been wondering similar things as I read this profound material.

  10. This is interesting! I really love it

I am however confused. I can’t seem to find the soul age where I belong. Here’s my life story; I am an African single male (33). Born of unknown father and very abusive and careless mother. Born in an extremely disorganized family full of poverty, paternal disputes, family hatred, superstition including witchcraft accusations. Brought up by a very cruel and abusive aunt. I am naturally intelligent and multi talented though not yet gone public. In fact I don’t like fame and public appearance. I played my self made string instrument at the age of 6 and could play any tune to the amusement of everyone, though I could be severely punished for that. I was introduced to classical music at 9 and it is still my favorite music. I joined the church choir at 12. I could draw anything from nature despite having no formal lessons. I was quite notorious in class but always came out the best for the entire 7 years of primary education. I loved woodwork, mathematics, technical drawing and later Physics. I questioned all bible stories taught at church. Questions included; why has God allowed Satan to cause suffering if he really loves us? Why do we condemn Judas for betraying Jesus when he was just fulfilling the scriptures? what was God keeping away from Adam by putting him to sleep while creating Eve? Such questions made some church elders really hate me while others loved me.

I’ve single handedly sponsored my own education since secondary school, through colleges up to University. I love learning and reading. During my first years of university, I was compelled to look into all major religions and came appreciate them all. Putting a smile on as many people as possible without expecting anything in return seems to be the reason for my existence. I respect all suggestions and opinions but I only believe that which I have proved and usually in silence. I’ve always believed to use my talents to help as many people as possible, in fact I am almost successful on this one. I’ve filed in 2 engineering patents. My heroes are Nikola Tesla and Edwin Armstrong. Despite having worked as a technical craftsman for almost 10 years, I have no house, no car, no wife but seem to be happy.

I love numbers and figures a lot. I see great patterns by simply observing dates, time, number of family members, events and I’ve sometimes managed to correctly work out future events. Currently my greatest joy is being alone developing my engineering patents or composing music on my piano. Many people including family members have told me to change my life style but I am sure I am okay the way I am. There is a lot of unusual happenings within and around my life. This is just a tip of the iceberg

What do you say about this.

    • Hi PM,

Great to hear from you, and to learn of your fascinating life story.

My sense of you is early-stage Old soul. I could be wrong, but you come across as someone who is not into proving yourself (Young soul) or finding yourself in relation to others (Mature soul), but seeking true fulfilment in a relaxed way that makes best use of your many talents, both as a way to joy for yourself and as a way to serve others, which is always the hallmark of true fulfilment.
You strike me as being both very autonomous and open-minded.
You have a number of inborn talents which suggests that you have become quite accomplished in these fields in previous lives.

At 33, you are fast approaching the major turning point in any adult life (usually 35+), where the soul longs to shed any false personality and get on with its true purpose in this life, ie the Life Task it set itself before birth. The Life Task is often directly related to the soul age and essence. (As a 5th level Mature Scholar, for example, my Life Task is to acquire and share knowledge in a spirit of joy – in other words, step out of my introverted comfort zone and “go public” with my best sense of true knowledge.)

I personally don’t know what your Life Task is (you could have a session with a Michael channel and they should be able to tell you if you like – or you can just meditate on it until you intuitively tune into it).

What I note, however, is that your childhood was marked by a “fish out of water” quality which is typical of those whose life goal is specifically to do with growth, advancement, expanding in awareness. To explain: when we incarnate seeking growth, we often set ourselves a difficult childhood which in many ways is the opposite of the sort of life we intend to create as adults. For example, one who intends to become a healer might be born with a frail, sickly body, and their ordeals in coping with that will provide both the motivation and the empathy to help others. Your questioning of religions is also very typical of the goal of Growth.

It will be interesting to see how your life unfolds over the next few years. For Mature souls, the mid-life turning point is usually excruciating; for Old souls, it can be much smoother and easier. You already have a sense of your true self without too much false baggage to get rid of.

      I hope this helps.

      Barry

  11. Wow! Of course it really helps. I would definitely love to have a session with Michael Channel. There’s so much I need to learn. How do I do that? What do you say about the soul ages and types of my heroes? Nikola Tesla and Edwin Armstrong?

    Reply
    • There’s a comprehensive list of channels here:
      http://www.michaelteachings.com/mresources.html

I don’t know about Tesla and Armstrong, except that they were prolific and independent inventors. Tesla I think is pretty clearly a Priest. Armstrong is more tricky, possibly a Scholar. You could ask one of the channels of course!

      Cheers

  12. It sounds like a lot of posters are wanting to trade material riches for spiritual ones. So still young souls really where the currency is different, but still wanting to amass a lot of it and get great exam results. I don’t want to be unkind to people who are looking for growth, but it does sound a bit like a competition. For myself I recognise everything in my current state from baby onwards. I worry where the money’s coming from, I have a sense of right and wrong, us and them, I would like to be famous for doing something well, I like being alone with my thoughts and to help people anonymously. I guess it’s a percentages game. The bottom line is time is infinite and I’m in no rush, I want to enjoy the view and enjoy some primitive activities now and again. Great site, it’s helped clear up a lot of things I felt to be true but didn’t really know why

  14. Hi, Barry,
The concept of reincarnation is something I have acknowledged and been marginally interested in for quite some time, but have only recently explored. I guess it is time.
For some reason yet to be revealed, I filter/condense everything I learn so I can share it with my son, who I believe is a very young baby soul, learning to “graduate” from an infant soul. So, in that vein, I would like some advice, so I can guide him, as gently as possible, to the next level, if appropriate. (I believe that I am a mature soul, and that this is a task that I agreed to before birth. Also, that he chose me to be his mother)

He has just turned 20. He has been extremely difficult to raise. All about his basic needs (pleasure-based), instant gratification, violent reactions to opposition, etc. He truly seems to have to learn everything the hard way.(ie; several run-ins with the law) I see maturity come to him extremely slowly. There are signs that he is somewhat attracted to strict forms of indoctrination, such as religion and even the military, but he hasn’t been ready or able to embrace those. ( I don’t really approve of either, by the way)
I sometimes think I should leave him to find his own way, but then I have very strong urges to help him. I feel compelled to keep giving him my advice. He is about 50 – 60% receptive.
My question is…should I continue to guide, or should I let him sort things out for himself, no matter what happens?

    • Bobbi – my apologies for not responding before now. I am still recovering from a “winter of discontent” that has affected myself and my family in many ways.

It is often the case that a Mature Soul couple will sign up to be the parents of an Infant or Baby Soul. The child gains from the parents’ attention and empathy, while the parents gain from the growth challenge. So you are not alone in this “task” — there are many doing the same thing — but it is incredibly tough.

The challenge for the parents is to provide rules, boundaries and structure, something which many Mature Souls want to shy away from, but have to come to terms with.

Your son, like everyone else he, will reach a plateau in his psychological development around age 35.

As you have probably already recognised, he is not going to embrace Mature soul values such as respect for alternative perspectives. If he’s a Baby soul, then he will definitely be attracted to strict black-and-white dogma and discipline. In other words, that is what he NEEDS in order to grow, and your task is to embrace that, albeit with gritted teeth.

Mature souls are repelled by fixed, rigid worldviews and disciplines, but Baby souls NEED them. You will serve your son by providing that and accepting his compatibility with it — you will also serve your own growth as a Mature soul by not making his needs wrong, no matter how much it grates against the Mature soul perspective,

Put it this way — you are his spirit guides. Your mission is to nurture his dualistic awareness, but you have the opportunity to give him a positive mindset that will both set him up for life and help contribute to your society.

      Hope that helps

  15. Sorry, should have posted my earlier comment on “Baby souls” , but after reading the first three levels, was compelled to comment ASAP.
Perhaps my son is working slowly towards ” Young soul”, given his age, which is why I stopped there…?

  16. Hello . I read the descriptions of all ages of souls , but I can not identify what level I am . I’ll tell you a little of my story too. I had a different childhood . Slightly problematic . I had some learning difficulties despite being intelligent. All my teachers thought I was smart though esa intelligence does not reflect the notes .

Also believe that because of that I started to doubt myself . I became really self deprecating . I literally spoke ill of me to others . This only began to change when I met a very special friend and he helped me to stop it .

Moreover I always wanted to be part of a group but could never be accepted. I was different from other introverted people. No Fui those teenagers who like to party and go clubbing . Was what is commonly called Nerd.

I fpassei three years in a college where no one spoke to me until I gave up and decided to have friends studying . When I was about 15 years I spent in a church and prayed . I usually do not pray because I was raised away from religions . My father is agnostic . But since I was there I decided to pray. And I asked a friend . Just that , just a friend .

Years later, when I was already 23 years I have found a person who helps me a lot today. Honestly , it seemed the most mature person I met in my entire life . And it helps me to stop me and accept me self depreciating instead of imploring acitação of others.

That was the time I was graduating from college . I majored in nutrition. but it did not work . So then I took a course in radiology.

And with nearly 30 years I got my first job . And now euquero proficional independence and success. Briefly this is my story .

  18. Hello:

I’m curious. I know a lot of people who specialize in soul ages often say only mature souls and old souls are capable of being great artists and “creative geniuses”, so are you positive there are no great artists in the young soul category? Personally, I feel Picasso, Miles Davis, Dali, Fellini, Kurosawa, and Hemingway all could have been young souls, since despite their immense talent they were all about themselves and their respective statuses as “great artists” deserving of bourgeois respect.

    Best,
    Remy

    Reply
    • Hmm, I’m not aware of anyone saying that only mature and old souls can be great artists or creative geniuses. I would say, Remy, that for Young Souls art is a vehicle to success and recognition, while for Mature Souls it is a vehicle for questioning assumptions and exploring alternative perceptions, and for old souls it’s a vehicle for true expression. So Young soul art tends to be populist, perfectly clear in its message, and comes with lashings of glitz and glamour. Mature and Old soul art tends to be ambiguous, self-aware, and mindful of the ability of people to make their own meanings.

Of course, it depends what one means by “great” artist or “genius”, and there is the possibility that true genius emerges only after lifetimes of hard graft. On the other hand, whoever it was that invented the wheel – perhaps a Baby Artisan – was surely a creative genius.

Anyway, I think there are many young souls who have been considered as “great artists” in their own way (at least by their own fans):

      G. F. Handel, Frederic Chopin, Hector Berlioz, Bing Crosby, Dean Martin, Elvis Presley, Whitney Houston, Madonna, Eminem, Beyoncé Knowles, James Cameron, Jim Carrey, Nicki Minaj.

    • I’m no young soul, but people who think modern pop, rock, hip hop and even jazz young soul artists are all horrible artists are so old fashioned. So elitist about their musical tastes. I know music history, and without Saphho, the Ancient Greek and Roman lesbian musician, we wouldn’t have any music exploring more of our individual feelings, over music for religious purposes or national purposes only. Why is intelligent music only meant to be calm and happy? Why can’t we learn to explore our deeper even negative emotions as many young soul music, and other artforms are? How would we discover ourselves without the introduction of individualist music and art that was given by the young souls? How would we discover our unique identity, purpose, opinions, likes and dislikes, without young soul artists?

  19. I was told I was a young soul and I believe it. It is not about ego but about experiencing as much as you possibly can, and wanting to try everything. I have achieved a lot of success in my career working in film, but not because I need to be the best but because I want to be the best ‘me’ I can be and see what I’m capable of. I’ve had a lot of old soul mentors who have taught me a lot about life.

Maybe I’m a newbie, but no definitely not. the only thing I can relate to is the sex part with the young souls. Who doesn’t want to be with someone who makes you feel good. Hey I make you feel good. You make me feel good. I get that part, maybe I’m spiritually middle-aged. even though I’m only 27. 😉

  21. I’ll comment. I have only recently discovered the Michael Teaching. I find alot of it quite valid esp. as it agrees with another teaching I’ve embraced, the Michael Newton research.

Well, after reading your descriptions of the various stages (which I found very helpful, more so than some others), I realized that I am a Young Soul, because of the emphasis on self and individuation. However, I may be a late phase Young Soul, because I started out this incarnation as a very typical Young Soul, but the whole hippie movement in the late 60s affected me deeply and turned me away from the self-absorption and urge to win, have the most, etc. and towards more of a Mature Soul interest. It was a real metanoia.

So I think this incarnation may be a “bridge” between the two evolutionary stages.

  22. Stage 3 young soul on the cusp of stage 4 mature soul for me. I am still growing and evolving spirituality getting to know self. Inwardly, since childhood, I’ve always had a sense of knowingness (if it’s not a real word, it is now) of things I had no clue as to how I could speak with such convictions as to it being true. As if I already experience it. 23. Donald Trump is definitely a young soul! He shows limited capacity to empathize with others, thinks he’s always right, winner vs loser mindset, and success must be loud and visible. He’s leading the polls right now because he appeals to a certain base of other young souls. I don’t think he’ll end up being president because he’s out of sync with the energy of the times with the more mature soul age population.

  24. The be honest, this described me perfectly. Simultaneously knowing that these aren’t ideal personality traits, I feel like this best describes where I’m at right now. Priest cast warrior young soul. I’m driven for what I want, I go and get it. No excuses. I know that it is very important to help others and to encourage them them to do the same. But I also have this need to be known. To leave my mark so to speak. I don’t understand it, and it constantly leaves me questioning my motives before I follow through with a decision. Hmm.. I guess we will all have to experience this stage at one point or another.

    • All sounds about right, but I would just add that if you are (physically) aged 15-25 or so, it could be that you are a Mature soul who is still acting like (or “manifesting as”) a Young soul. It’s something we go through in each lifetime – we always start from scratch on the day we are born and gradually build up to our true level of soul consciousness as a human individual. Many Mature souls act like Young souls around late adolescence and early adulthood, while many Old souls act like Mature souls around that time. Our true level “plateau” is reached around age 35-40.

BTW, I also have a “need to be known”, i.e. a compulsion for fame, which feels inappropriate for me as a Mature soul. Apparently I’ve been clinging to this for many lives — possibly because I didn’t “get famous” as a Young soul. I’m learning to let go of it in this life.

      cheers Lexy

  25. My 23-year-old is a young soul. He is very unique to my family, my parents and siblings are all baby souls. I am, I suspect, an old soul. My eldest daughter is a first level mature, along with many of my children’s father’s family, who are all infant or mature souls. So a young soul is very unique indeed, at least in this family.

My son being a young soul, and me being an old soul, have many differences, but there are many traits to be envied in a young soul. My son is ambitious, knows exactly what he want out of life and goes for it. He has confidence and seems to just “know” how to go about getting promotions and can put up with a lot, if he knows he will be financially secure.

My son also has some of the bad traits. He fails to understand any viewpoint but his own, he does not understand people can have totally different and unique experiences that would led to behave in a different way than him. Unfortunately, they are labeled by him as lazy or stupid . He also has this problem where he thinks he is right. all the time, just because he thought it up! He tends to be bit selfish, expecting others to do for him what never consider doing for someone else. (but as he matures is growing out of this) But all in all, he’s a good kid, means well and is one most level-headed people I know.

I have two other children, one is too young to guess what soul age she is at, the other I think is fist-level mature- the total opposite of my young-soul son. And that, along with my baby-soul parents and siblings – it’s been an interesting experience, to say the least.

  26. I think it is hard to calculate the soul age of most people under the age of 35. Many people in their 20s will act like young souls and as they get to their 40s they will be more like “mature” souls, and perhaps “old” souls when they reach their 60s. However, there are many people who are in their 60s who act like young souls which must mean they are a young soul. I think I am a mature soul but this was not obvious until I reached my 30s, during my 20s I was definitely a “young” soul. Hope this helps!

  27. I am pretty sure I’m an old soul. I am almost 30 and my rate of change is outstanding. Due to deep emotional wounds I think my superficial perspective on life was of a mature soul, but as I get older my thinking tends to align more with that of an old soul. One thing which has stayed constant throughout is that since I was a little girl and then in my late twenties when I finally put the term “truth” onto it, is the most important thing of all to me is TRUTH. I can’t wait till my outer life reflects my inner life finally… and as I get older I find the two coming closer and closer to reconciliation. I suspect that within the category of Old Soul that there are probably the most amount of subcategories. Whereas the baby soul probably has few if any subcategories. I don’t think claiming to be an Old Soul makes me lacking in humility, I will be doing ibogaine later this year to connect with myself at a profound level finally. I am rather shy and uncomfortable about this aspect of myself in some ways, in fact, when I think about it it scares me. I hope doing ibogaine will help me understand the origins of that fear. Thanks.

However, my Youngness rears its head when I frequently and urgently feel that deeply analyzing life is a waste of time, if I can’t see a way to use my revelations to make a big mark on the world…

Lately I’ve been daydreaming about becoming a Professional Matchmaker and Dating Coach, and using the information on this website to help match people up. Would that be cool and acceptable, Michael? I feel like it would be a very Young Priestly aim, that would hopefully help people!

  29. .I felt moved to search “old soul” and found this site. Ill throw in also. I want to believe that i am all but at the end of my journey, however, I know i have a few live times left. My story goes like this:
At about 10 years old I was given 3 facts about my life. 1) I would be great at anything I actually put effort into. 2) I would have interactions I was meant to have in this life. 3) I would get to pass on when my tasks were over. This is a very strange thing to come to terms with at such an age. My upbringing was one of solitude and loneliness. While i had friends at school (private not public) I didnt have much of a life after the bell rang. I spent many nights wanting and waiting for my soul mate. During my teen years I meet some Older souls that helped me learn and come to terms with my past lives. I remember seeing a crystal hallway lined with doors and each was a life i had lived. The one I visited brought me to tears. I watched as my love was killed before my eyes. This was one of the hardest things i have ever experienced. I was born knowing of her and how much she meant, but until then i didn’t know the how painful some wounds can be. My first great love was in my early 20’s. She was a beautiful young soul that will in some other life time be a fantastic woman. She bounced into and out of my life over the next 8 years. Every 2 years i would manifest her back into my life and get hurt all over again. While in my 20’s I learned more about life from peoples stories then from life experience. And learn may be a strong word. Very little surprised me but when i heard things i knew the truth of the words and the meanings they held. My gifts began to show themselves toward the middle of my 20’s. I can see choices being made by people and one of my healing functions is to help guide people when they are making life changes. all up through this time I was also darkly depressed. I felt isolated from the world as no one my age seemed to see life like i did. No one else in my life sensed or felt things like I do. I had to teach myself the ways of being an em path. While I felt alone I always felt the pull and sway of the universe. I could feel my place in it, and still I had the sense of missing some one. My other long relationship was with an older woman. 7 years is not much of a time gap, but the maturity level I thought she had was all pretense. I again found myself living with a young soul. Years after breaking up, but girls have told me that they had finally understood some of the things I had tried to teach them while we were together. Barry, you mentioned that it is difficult to have a steady relationship where the soul “age” gap is too far.I have only this to add, letting go of younger (or older) souls is definitely a hard lesson in life. I have come to understand that getting out of a bad relationship and reflecting on it helps you to respect yourself and the other person in the same move. While you are together, you are stopping each other from finding their soul mate. Learn the lessons that you have to teach one another and peacefully part ways. Even when they are losing their heads, if you are the older soul let peace, truth and open feelings be your guides when parting. We have so much karma to heal without adding more when you are leaving a life teacher. Even my bad relationships have taught me much about what I manifest into my life. I have had so many experiences where I have helped people through rough parts of their lives. Some times its been without even being present. Every time I feel knowledge flow through me I am humbled by the beauty of our existence. I am now 32, my longing for friends to talk to and share with on this level has finally come about. I realize now that I am an early bloomer. I feel as though the endless questions of my youth have become observations of the human experience. I love philosophy. It brings to my mind more questions than answers and the questions are from an ever expanding understanding of life. 3 years ago amidst some of the darkest hours of my depression, I felt someone coming into my life. This was the 4th round of my ex coming back into my life, and i chose a different path with her. I let her go, and found the woman I had been looking for. We are 3 years into our life together and they have been the happiest of my life. My depression is gone and I finally have the missing piece of my life back. In retrospect, the woman I had dated, all had traits of my goddess. One had her smile, another her silliness. Our meeting was sudden and perfect. I look forward to building a life together. We have filled our life with loving supportive friends. Our Saturday get together s have become our church. They are my friends from previous lives. And being around them makes me feel like I need to hold myself to a higher level of conduct. We all have checked each other when we get out of line and have very open discussions as a group. This is what good friends do for each other. We treat each other with respect and truth.
To all that have also posted on here, Thank you, I love you. I am always encouraged by “meeting” others that are on the path of becoming who they are. It gives me hope for the future. Thank you for being part of our existence. It is an honor to be living here with you.

  31. I think its not quite right to say that young souls don’t care about such things like soul ages but they are more inclined to going towards mainstream religion for their own path. They want to be the best in whatever they do, and they want to be unique. Its just that the world is overpopulated by young souls and when everybody is different than nobody is.

We should never forget the late stage young souls who, although just as driven as the majority of young souls, are not as selfish as you may think or materialistic. They tend to be but they are also understanding that the world has a greater problem. And if they become CEO’s whilst fixing that problem its all the more better.

They have different lessons from mature souls, and we should not presuppose anything. Even if i consider myself a mature soul, i know i’ve only just developed into it, only being at most a level four mature soul. Because of my physical age on earth there are times i may act like a young soul, baby or infant soul. Simply because we are taking in all the information once more with each life we live.

Everyone takes said information in at different rates, some old souls may even act like young souls when they are in their teens simply because there’s a lot of information to go through. We aren’t always born with memories of our past lives because it has no relevance to learning the lesson we have to learn in this one.

I did read the rest of his comment, but the moment I read that part made me laugh so hard. That’s 110% Young Soul right off the bat. Anyways, Most people don’t dig very deep to know the Soul Ages very well and then claim to be in the wrong soul age. As for 10 years of research and Self-discovery or Soul searching myself as I taken quite few tests with a quit few experts/professionals in the result being an Old Soul. An Old Soul is all the previous souls too. So I do have my Young Soul personality as it’s still apart of me of who I am as individual. This part of the soul will actually may never go away until the individual enters into the sixth soul stage. Rarely People who are in the Sixth Stage live in this world. Usually end up dead because…well, to make it easy to understand. Think about Spiritual leaders like The 1st Sermon of Buddha or Horus are examples of people who were into the sixth soul stage.

  33. This is interesting, I’m currently in a very competitive environment, a place to prove yourself and wanting to show what you can do. But its also very focused on becoming your better self. I realized that I rather be my better self than have to prove myself to everyone. Sure I get competitive sometimes but theres something missing, something that is causing a disconnect from my current position. It could be that theres things that I agree on and others that I dont.
I make good money, I dont care about looking rich. I’d rather use my money to give me experiences and make those around me happy.
I’m 24 years old and I see myself changing daily..

  34. I’m sure we’ll all get to the highest level of soul development one day. Those who seek and wish to learn will learn faster than others. It’s not something we can just by pass and master all at once. Those who are open-minded, patient, and have a great deal of self-discipline shall have no problem reaching new heights to soul development.

However, people who are stubborn and fail to see/think from other people’s perspectives and lack empathy will have a harder time accepting other people’s beliefs/opinions/ideas/actions you name it!

One must be aware of themselves first in order to understand others emotions/feelings, actions, and beliefs.

Once you understand people’s perspectives of one’s motives and actions based on feelings/emotions… you’ll find that you enter an old soul phase in which you realize that we’re all part of a system and we are all souls living in a physical shell in world created to test our obedience and love and will eventually be casted away into the ocean and be brought to either a new light or forever remain in darkness!

    • I believe it’s most likely to be mature souls. Infant souls simply don’t think like that. Baby souls are likely to be be too afraid of committing a sin. Young souls are the most attached to living their life; they would tend to see suicide as a losers’ option.

Mature souls are easily overwhelmed by life’s complexities, and often end up very confused about the meaning, purpose and value of being here at all. If they commit suicide, it’s likely to be high drama. Everyone around them will know about the ‘tragedy’.

Old souls are prone to depression, and if they end up committing suicide over it, it’s likely to be very quiet and discrete, no fuss.

    • Via statistics, young soul countries have the highest suicide rates, and you can find more than a handful of analysis and political commentaries to why this is, being rather confused about how the most wealthy and powerful nations get more suicides from the data. These commentaries do not necessarily mention the term young soul, but there are many problems associated with mental health trends with young soul culture, comparisons on social media, the overwhelming pressure to succeed, the pressure to seem without any emotional weakness or insecurity, the deep loneliness of emphasizing work over connections, and so on. As much as we tend to see young souls as arrogant and egotistical in this community, inside are poor souls who are hiding deep vulnerabilities and insecurities.

It is also because of meritocracy (search online “the myth of meritocracy”) that young soul culture is forced to blame themselves when they fail. Both baby souls and mature souls are more community oriented, and either put the blame on another group, or place the burden on the entire group they’re in for others. With young souls, it’s all your fault if you fail, and with the high standards of society for material success, that is very troubling.

  35. I am studying my astrology North Node Aries (South Node Libra) and figure out that I am a young soul. I think it’s true and it’s okay. Another part is I learned that young soul could be also a Volunteer on earth (ok i read too much of Dolores Cannon book).

I think I am disconnected to the environment that I live in and tend to challenge the dogma and the status quo. Here in Asia (wont mention my country), it is frightening to see an independent and decisive woman as woman that is accepted by the society has to be submissive, dont have opinion, and should be housewife and obey the partner even he’s a load of bullshit or doing things wrong. Then I moved to Europe where women are being heard equally, i really like it. And back again to my country now, they think there is something wrong with me. But who cares. ha ha ha. I’m doing my way.

I am still on my journey to seek how can I skip reincarnation i dont want to again and again and again born with different name, same shit story.
Wish me luck!! 😉 notes from optimistic young soul

  36. I think I’m a young soul whose parents were very intolerant of children, immaturity and lack of wisdom. So I was under pressure to portray myself as mature and wise, when inside I’m a chaotic mess. I hope I do better next time.
