This is a follow-up to my 22 January post: ‘Groundbreaking reality TV show features past life regression‘.
According to an article in the Hindustan Times of 25 July 2010 (‘Raaz Pichhle Janam Ka is back’), the second season of Raaz Pichhle Janam Ka will start filming on the 1st of August for broadcast in October.
Dr Trupti Jayin, the NDTV Imagine reality show’s regression therapist, says that it will “be a mix of interesting cases from India and abroad.”
Celebrities who have been approached include Nandish Sandhu, Rajesh Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Om Puri, Rahul Roy, Rahul Dev, Shraddha Nigam and Juhi Babbar.
Season 2, as of now, has an expected 20-episode run that could be extended like Season 1, depending on the response.
Update 5 Sept 2010: It is said that the show will be aired two times each week. It is also expected to go on air by the 7th of October and would be given the 9 pm slot. Bollywood star Chunky Pandey has already recorded a dramatic session — “one of the best ever.”
Update 9 Nov 2010: A petition challenging broadcast of Raaz Pichle Janam Ka has been dismissed by the Punjab and Haryana High Court today. Petitioner Surendra Kumar Bansal claimed that the show promotes superstition and blind faith, that the show is opposed to the basic tenets of medical science, and that the show was promoting “social malpractices”. The First bench of Chief Justice Mukul Mudgal and Justice Ranjan Gogoi declined the petition after a “no objection” was produced from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB).
