Final message: Inspiring video from the boy who died on Christmas Day

Ben Breedlove

Ben Breedlove, 18, died on Christmas Day from a heart attack. Since his death, a video he posted on YouTube has captured the world’s attention.

Ben Breedlove, a teenager with a dangerous heart condition that brought him close to death three times, finally died on December 25th, Christmas Day, 2011. A few days beforehand, however, he had posted a two-part video on YouTube telling his story and describing a series of near-death experiences.

Ben, from Austin, Texas, suffered from a heart condition known as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy — a disease which makes it difficult for the heart to pump blood properly. Despite this, Ben had a popular YouTube channel — OurAdvice4You — in which he gave relationship advice to peers.

It was in his last 2-part YouTube video, uploaded on December 18, that he left this final message using a series of flash cards to talk about living — and soon dying — with the heart problem. By the time Ben’s parents discovered the videos on Boxing Day, they had already gone viral.

His 19-year-old sister Ally says:

“Ben told us he wanted to go back, of the peace he experienced and how he wanted to go back to that place. And that he was ready. And I personally think he left it for us to find. This was his way of leaving us with something that we would need.”

In the video, 18-year-old Ben describes his previous near-death experiences (NDEs) and the effects they had on him. The first occurred when he was aged just four. Describing that experience, Ben talks about a bright light that brought him peace as he was wheeled on a stretcher through the hospital.

In a more recent experience, he found himself standing in a white room with his favourite rapper, Kid Cudi.

I won’t say too much about the video — it’s just something to be experienced.

    • Hi. Not sure what you mean by people like him but, yes, he will of course reincarnate like the rest of us. Unless that was his very last life, I suppose.
      🙂

  1. Just beautiful. Touched. For me, being ‘touched’ and inspired to evolve and inspire is what makes life worth living. Love your work on this site.

    smiles, Aurora.

    • Hi Paula

      Glad you like the website.

I am sorry to hear of your loss, though of course I suspect that your parents are both currently enjoying a much greater and lighter state of being.

I think the duration (in Earth terms) spent between lives is often longer than three years – more like one or two or three decades? That said, many souls today do seem to be returning much more quickly – it’s an exciting time to be incarnate, with so many massive changes going on.

      I can see various possibilities:

      1. Within your current lifetime they could remain between lives. However, you might still be able to reach out to them and feel their loving presence, especially if you ask for their help.

      2. Within your current lifetime – say 10 or 20 years on from now – they could choose to reincarnate at some point, possibly together or possibly separately. If some new kind relationship with you has been planned, they will likely be somewhere in your vicinity. For example, one or both could be among your children or grandchildren, say, or your nephews/nieces, or the kid next door. In this kind of scenario it’s unlikely that they would explicitly remember you, but subtle feelings of recognition and attachment are often lurking beneath the surface. And for you, finding yourself weirdly ‘connecting’ well with a particular child may be a difficult thing to explain rationally, unless you do happen to recognise them from a former life (earlier in your life).

      3. One or both could choose to reincarnate within your current lifetime but with no specific plans to meet up with you. Not because they want to avoid you, but because they simply have other projects to work on. So your current life and their next lives could overlap, but you might never encounter them because it’s not on your agenda.

If you want too know about some true life cases in the “option 2” category, where lost relatives or loved ones have reincarnated to reconnect with the same individuals as before, only as children, then I strongly recommend the book Children’s Past Lives by Carole Bowman. Sometimes the kids themselves are the ones who spontaneously make the recognition – a three-year old might suddenly say to her father something like, “Remember before when I was your Daddy and I sang you bedtime songs?”

      Hope this helps…

      Barry

    • Thank you Barry for your very helpful reply much appreciate well the lesson that I have learnt from all this is that all souls are beautiful no matter if they are related or not related to you and it is important to cherish each and every moment spent with any soul in this lifetime as you never know if you will ever meet them again or not ……Thanks Barry again and keep posting and I will definitely read the book you have recommended thank you and keep up the good work
